about

Charline Dally studied graphic design at Boulle and Olivier de Serres in Paris. She is currently completing a visual arts degree at UQAM in Montreal. By using installation, printmaking or visual performance, she questions different notions such as ambivalence, otherness and porosity. Her work tries to dissolve boundaries between absence and presence, real and virtual, synthetic and organic. By integrating slow progressions, her videos become like a hypnotic tool inviting the audience to feel oneself in the present. Her work has been presented in Paris, Brussels, Toronto and Montreal (Eastern Block and Place Émilie-Gamelin , Place des Arts).

The mirror opens a vertiginous space where one finds oneself facing oneself. Here, the imprint formed on the surface alters the reflection and shapes the light beam in its image. The desire to understand this strange luminous phenomenon can also give way to the simple experience of contemplation. The idea is to show an intangible reality, to reflect on what we are missing.
