program

If you were ever curious about this new term, Augmented Reality (AR), or if you’ve never even heard it before, here is your chance to see what it’s all about! An augmented zine looks and feels like a traditional zine, but if you look at it through a special app on your tablet or phone, you can trigger multimedia content such as animations, sounds, text overlays etc.
-
Participants of this activity will be invited to contribute content to an augmented zine in cut and paste style using material provided for the workshop. The augmented zine is a handmade photocopied publication that will be made available through the Distroboto art vending machine network after the activity.
-
Samples of artists’ books with AR content will be available to give you a glimpse at this new practice. Harley Smart, a Montreal publisher who has been developing AR books since 2014 with Montreal art book publisher Anteism Press, will explain how AR content is created and used in publications. Tablets to view AR content will be available on site, as well as a free app for downloading to your phone or tablet.
